8'x20' Deckover Trailer Rental in Calgary (9,900 lbs / 4,491 kg)

A deckover trailer has its deck built over the top of the wheels instead of between them. That removes the fenders, so the surface is usable edge to edge. On our 8' × 20' deckover, that means 97.5 inches (248 cm) of clear deck — enough for two standard 48-inch (122 cm) pallets side by side. The deck sits 31 inches (79 cm) off the ground, so you load with ramps instead of a tilt.

On a standard flat deck, the bed sits between the wheels, leaving about 82–83 inches (208–211 cm) between the fenders. This deckover gives you 97.5 inches (248 cm) of clear deck within a 102-inch (259 cm) overall width. The extra width lets you side-load pallets, carry wide equipment, or lay building materials flat.

Both have the same weight rating: 9,900 lb (4,491 kg) GVWR with two 5,200 lb (2,359 kg) axles. Pick the deckover for wide loads that need more than 82 inches (208 cm) between the fenders. Pick the 10K flat deck for cars or low-clearance equipment; its 22-inch (56 cm) deck and hydraulic tilt provide a lower loading angle.

We do not recommend it. The deck sits 31 inches (79 cm) off the ground, and the slide-in ramps are 8 feet (244 cm) long, creating an approach angle of about 19 degrees. Cars and other low-clearance loads may scrape or bottom out. For vehicles, use the 7' × 20' hydraulic power-tilt flat deck instead.

Yes. With no fenders blocking the sides, a forklift can load pallets, lumber, and construction materials from the side or rear. Two 48-inch (122 cm) pallets fit side by side across the 97.5-inch (248 cm) deck.

Check your truck, hitch, tires, and brake-controller setup against the actual loaded weight. The trailer is rated at 9,900 lb (4,491 kg) GVWR and weighs 2,756 lb (1,250 kg) empty. You need a 2 5/16" ball, a 7-pin connector, and a working electronic brake controller because the trailer has brakes on both axles.

Alberta's current Class 5 guidance allows you to tow a trailer with one or more axles when it does not use air brakes. This deckover uses electric brakes and is 102 inches (259 cm) wide. Confirm that your licence and complete towing setup meet the requirements for your actual load.

Because the deck sits higher than a standard flatbed, it does not tilt. The included 8-foot (244 cm) slide-in ramps store under the deck. Pull them out, connect them to the rear lip, and load rubber-tracked or wheeled equipment within the trailer's limits.

We require a $500 fully refundable damage deposit. This deposit is returned to you upon safe return of the trailer in its original condition.

Your rental includes heavy-duty slide-in ramps, a spare tire, and a jack. We also perform a basic hitch and safety check before you leave.
